Disney has pulled back a Halloweendräkt after the outraged accusations of racism.

the Suit has been developed in conjunction with the new Disney movie “Moana”, and represents the polynesian god Maui, who appear in the film. The tattooed, brown-coloured helkroppsdräkten with gräskjol and benhalsband accused by activists of cultural reclamation, that is to say, that without sufficient knowledge, the exploitation of a different culture. It has also been compared to the racist “black face”tradition in the united states, where the white actors in the past, painted black. Others call it “creepy”.

“Our brown skin and tattoos are not a costume”, says an indignant comment on Twitter.

Disney, stop now the sales and apologize for the offense it has brought.

“the Team behind ‘Moana’ has great respect for the culture of the polynesian islands, and we regret that Mauidräkten has upset a part,” says the company in a statement.

“Moana” will have premiere on February 3, 2017.
