The author Harper Lee’s death – Västerbotten Folkblad

Entertainment News. Harper Lee’s death. The world famous but also very shy author was 89 years.

Harper Lee’s home municipality Monroeville confirms that the author is dead.

– There are no rumors. It has the city hall confirmed. We just got the news that she had died and that many would call, said a person at the municipality’s switchboard on the phone said.

Harper Lee was born in 1926 in the small town of Monroeville in USA as the youngest of four children. She submitted the manuscript for the novel “cardinal sin” (To Kill a Mockingbird) 1957 to the publisher J.B. Lippincott & amp; Co. who asked her to write about his text.

On July 11, 1960 published the book and it became almost immediately a great success among both readers and critics. In 1962 she received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for the novel.

In the shadow of the book’s huge sales success, it has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, Harper Lee led a very reclusive and highly oglamourös existence.

She suffered a stroke in 2007 but bounced back. Long saw the “cardinal sin” out to get Harper Lee’s only published book. But in 2015, she made something of a comeback when “Set a watchman” unexpectedly given out. The book was marketed initially as a sequel to her debut, but turned out instead to be a first draft.

“Set a watchman” was one of last year’s best-selling books. However, there has been intense discussion about Harper Lee herself was comfortable with the issue.
