Seinabo Seys powerful reminder – Sydsvenskan

First, she stood there alone on stage and sang the opening verse of “Easy” a cappella. Then went the music started and they came one by one – her family, her friends, her friends’ friends. During Seinabo Seys powerful conclusion to the Grammy Awards on Wednesday, the 100 black women from different generations on stage. All dressed in black, each with a fixed gaze directed forward.

In the audience raised some their fists, and afterwards Sey asked if she was inspired by Beyonce, who in the last song “Formation” frequently refers to the civil rights movement and the Super Bowl was flanked by exclusively black dancers. “No, I thought of this before. And I was black before. Beyonce was black before,” said the singer.
