Top Gear fans furious at ekofeminist – Göteborgs-Posten

Top Gear should be repeated with more green cars and less childish antics, writes a columnist in The Guardian. She also wants to eliminate the sexist and racist jokes. But she faced heavy resistance from Top Gear fans.

The shutdown of Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has attracted an enormous amount of reactions online. Reportedly he should have beaten a producer in the face and then suspended from the BBC.

Programs Leadership colleague James May has declared that he was dead drunk at the time and Jeremy Clarkson himself has joked that he is on his way to the unemployment office. The petition to save the Top Gear currently has over 700,000 signatures.

One of anyone who thinks that Top Gear should be made from scratch, and that the shutdown is a good time to do so, the columnist Zoe Williams. In the Guardian, she writes about his idea.

“The problem with Jeremy Clarkson, except that he is an idiot, is that he lives on the wrong side of history. There is a future for cars. There is a fantastic future for cars, and even a future for the car program. But for people who do stupid stunts in cars, while they insist that they are too bilnördar, which by definition can not accept the facts about climate change? Not so much, “she writes.

Zoe Williams proposes a “ekofeministisk approach” with more climate-friendly cars. She takes the BMW i8 as an example and says that it does not need to be “boring wholemeal nonsense.”

“What does an intelligent species when the hen faced with a problem? Finds a daring response, and plowing is not down in a ditch and laughs. “

Feminism is important because it is the macho culture that allowed a bunch of idiots scoop out fossil fuels while pulling racist jokes and scientific inaccuracies, she says.
